Artist Trading Cards

The below article is an excerpt from HOOKING MATTERS Vol 20 issue 4 it features a small work with a label on back identifying the title, date, artist name and contact information – an ARTIST TRADING CARD.

“Determined to meet some TIGHR members from “far away” I decided to join the ATC group on the TIGHR website. I had a vague idea what artist’s trading cards were….small mats 2.5”x3.5”, hooked to trade or gift to someone. Easy, peasy I thought! They were so small I figured that I could actually get one done and it would not end up in the closet with the other too-many-to-count projects that I will finish someday. As well, I had found a great way to use up scraps.

Set of ATCs by Lynn Pollock

With confidence I set out to make 6 of them: one for each of the hookers who had kindly offered to trade with me.

5 months later I am preparing to send out my final 3 mats. They took longer than I thought and were definitely more challenging.!! Design, colour plan, hook, finish edges (my least favourite part!), and ta dah!

I have received 3 ATCs from some of my new TIGHR friends and I am thrilled. Every one is unique and wonderful. A little piece of the artist.

So if you are looking for a way to feel  part of TIGHR and want to make those connections around the globe, think about joining the ATC group. Just go to the TIGHR website, members’ section and click on groups. The ATC group will pop up. We are all waiting for the question: does anybody want to trade with me?………….Yes we do!”
